OUR TENETS

Shaping how we think, act, and live every day.

Not just words we learn. Values we practice.

What Are the Tenets?

The Tenets are the standards we train by and live by. They are not just ideas we talk about, but qualities we practice daily in our thoughts, our actions, and our relationships.

Nine of these come from the Fruit of the Spirit, reflecting the kind of character that is formed through a life grounded in truth. The remaining three, integrity, perseverance, and respect, are essential disciplines that strengthen how we live out those qualities in the real world.

Together, these twelve tenets form the foundation of what it means to become a true warrior. Not just strong in body, but strong in character.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

~Galatians 5:22-23

Love

Love is central to who we are and what we stand for at Invictus. Love is not a feeling, it is an action. It happens when we give someone what they need the most when they deserve it the least, even if that comes at great personal cost to us. The greatest example of love is what Jesus did on the cross for us.

Joy

Joy is a choice. Happiness comes and goes based on our current circumstances. But we can choose joy no matter what when we know that true joy is rooted in faith, and that it only comes from a deep relationship with God.

Peace

Peace is not just the absence of conflict, although that is part of it. Peace is the state of our mind and spirit being calm and still no matter what is going on around us. This kind of peace only comes from the Lord, and it rarely makes any sense at the time.

Patience

Patience is more than just waiting for something. Everyone has to wait for things. There's no way around that. But patience is how we wait. Knowing that the Lord knows better than we do and trusting Him with the outcome allows us to wait with patience.

Kindness

Kindness is extending grace and compassion to every person we cross paths with, no matter who they are. The kindness we show to others reflects the grace and compassion God has shown us and is offered without judgement about whether or not the person deserves our kindness.

Goodness

Goodness is seen when we try to live like Jesus according to what the Bible tells us. It is striving for moral excellence and righteousness, guided by the goodness of God's character and His command to do good to others. It is not how we earn God's love. It is the overflow of the love God has already given to us.

Faithfulness

Faithfulness is remaining steadfast and loyal in our commitments. It is seen in how we honor our commitments long after the feeling we had when we made them has worn off. Faithfulness is show to others, to ourselves, and most importantly, to the Lord.

Gentleness

Gentleness is the quality of being kind, tenderhearted, or mild-mannered. It is being soft in our words and actions and recognizing the strength in that type of restraint. Gentleness is best exemplified by Jesus, who described Himself as gentle.

Self-Control

Self-control is exactly what it sounds like: controlling yourself. However, it is not something we can fully do on our own. To successfully exert discipline over our own actions and impulses, we have to acknowledge the need for the Holy Spirit's guidance in maintaining that control.

Integrity

Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principles, but this comes from having a heart that is whole and undivided. This wholeness is grounded in the truth of God's Word and reflects His character in everything we say and do.

Perseverance

Perseverance simply means we never ever give up. It is enduring trials with resilience, and we do this by drawing strength from the hope and promises found in God's Word, knowing that everything He does is for our good and His glory.

Respect

Respect is as straightforward as treating others the way you want to be treated, and at its core, it recognizes that every person was created by God and is precious and valuable to Him.

Living the Tenets

These tenets are not just words we memorize. They are standards we train into our daily lives. On the mat, they shape how we practice, how we respond to challenge, and how we treat others. Off the mat, they guide our decisions, our relationships, and our character.

Over time, these principles become more than something we follow. They become who we are.

Train With Purpose

If you’re looking for more than just physical training, you’re in the right place. Here, we build strength in the body, discipline in the mind, and character that lasts.
